
Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm began hearing testimony Wednesday to help her decide whether to remove Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick from office over allegations of misconduct.
The mayor and his former chief of staff are charged in criminal court with lying under oath about their romantic involvement. They were testifying at a summer 2007 whistle-blower trial that eventually led to the city's paying more than $8 million to settle three lawsuits.
